Sweethearts

‘Sweethearts’ uses the visual language of candy to confront the epidemic of violence against women. Heart-shaped graves reflect the number of women killed by violence in Australia this year, many by intimate partners. Inscribed with phrases that excuse, minimise and enable violence, the work challenges the attitudes that allow it to persist.
